Commercial real estate specialists typically focus on income-producing properties, such as apartment and office buildings, retail stores and warehouses, shopping centers and industrial parks. To understand and explain why these properties are good investments, commercial specialists must be knowledgeable about growth possibilities in the area, current income tax regulations and purchasing arrangements that give the buyer the best possible return on investment.
Entry into the real estate profession requires preparation and training. Future REALTORS® must attend pre-licensing courses and pass standardized examinations in order to qualify for a real estate license. Furthermore, REALTORS® must attend regular continuing professional education programs to keep their knowledge base current and stay on top of developments in the field.
